I once wrote a poem called Caged. Caged is about the prophets (PBUH) who are God sent. They come down and teach us beautiful lessons about the same GOD. Part of civilization connects with the teachings of these prophets, and then unfortunately instead of focusing on those teachings, they loose track an some question it, while the others put down the teachings of other prophets. None of these prophets put down each other, so why are we. As humans we always seem so attached to guarding what is ours and building fences against those who do not follow our beliefs. I’ve slightly modified Caged, to include it in this section.
Caged
There goes the prophet (PBUH). Memories of him are so loud and clear,
All I see in this vision, is him running happily, reaching out to us all
I see him helping a man cross the street, I see him give a hug to an old lady
I see him there, listening and talking of the mercy of GOD to lost souls like me.
People began loving him, and rightly so I may say,
He's been criticized by those who've never really known him too.
Some have used their association with him for their own benefit
They interpreted him to many in ways that they best knew.
These friends of his began to argue, and dispute the other's interpretation
They felt they were right and that the others had the wrong end of the stick
So strangely enough as they spoke of a good man and all his good teaching
They inoculated hatred towards the other’s listeners within themselves & their audience who were listening
Groups formed, each believing in what they felt was right,
But with these differences becoming so important to them
The good man's life and his teachings slowly lost sight.
People began to fight, they became fanatical spoiling what was once fine,
While their leaders took the soul of the prophet & GOD, and prison-ed him in their shrine.
Oh God, help me survive this be the light in this life of mine,
Keep me away from those who stupidly caged YOU and your messenger in a man made shrine.
When will we learn? When will we feel? When will we see ourselves as GOD’s most beautiful creation? For those who do not relate to your understanding of the Almighty, does not mean that they are wrong. So fortunate are you that you are blessed with a certain belief, then why waste that on putting the other’s belief down? Instead pray for them, accept them and love them, as follow your belief that is in your soul.. This is your spirituality, isn’t it?
Like in a family, some children call their mother mom, mummy and/or ma. Regardless of what they call her, how they see her in their soul, she is their single mother. We are creations of a single GOD, and no matter what we call HIM, how we see HIM, he is just the same thing - the divine.
So the next time you want to put down somebody, or want to hurt somebody simply coz they see GOD in a different way as you do, think about this one thing - connect and thank GOD for they are talking about YOUR very own GOD!!
